GEORGIAN OAK BUREAU

This is a rare and distinctive Georgian oak bureau. It has two short drawers (with a false drawer between the two) and 3 x long gradutating drawers with brass swan-neck handles.
It stands on bracket feet. (The interior of the bottom drawer has been replaced but the original carcas is still in tact.) The front falls opens to reveal a very charming fitted interior with an arrangement of 6 x pigeon hole compartments over 6 x curved drawers and a central cupboard. There are two secret compartments, a small drawer over one of the pigeon holes and one of the side panels next to the door pulls out. Below the door is a spacious concealed well with a covering slide. The locks on the door and on the front fall are in working order with keys. A super Victorian walnut and marquetry inlaid davenport desk with a green leather writing surface. The right hand side of the desk has 4 drawers and to the left side there are 4 dummy drawers, all with face turned wooden knobs. A French Napoleonic Chest on Chest in a mahogany sarcophagus style reflecting the interest in Egyptology in this period. The canted corners are decorated with agapanthus to represent long life. Portable working Columbia gramophone. Model 112A Viva Tonal Grafonola. It is wound-up by a handle, slotted in to the front of the case, with a retaining slot alongside for when the machine is not in use. The velvet turntable is a claret/plum colour and has no holes or tears in it. Marked with Columbia on the lid and also on the stylist. c1930 Approximately 16" (41 cm) x 12" (30 cm) x 6½" (16.5 cm).

EDWARDIAN SUTHERLAND TABLE

Edwardian mahogany Sutherland Table (named for Harriet, Duchess of Sutherland (1806 to 1868). The folding when closed is so narrow that it can bestood against a wall without taking up much space. It has the splay legs, galleried sides and a plain undershelf. The top is made of solid mahogany and has squared canter corners with swingout legs which are fitted with the original brass castors and ceramic wheels. This unique Victorian Sewing Table dates to around 1850's. It has a rectangular top, small drawer which opens to reveal a compartment for sewing/game pieces. A pin secures the two together and a key locks both together. The table is supported on a turned centre column with a shaped base and original castors. This was purchased in 2010 from Tennants by a Mr.C. Wilson of Leeds at a cost of £305.83 Mid Victorian Approximately 23" (58cm) wide x 15"(3cm) deep x 30" (76cm) high.

Very rare Antique Steamer Trunk By Innovation, 5th Avenue, New York. The height of 1930s chic. This is a beautiful trunk and in its original condition. It has six drawers, hangers for clothes and a shoe storage space at the bottom. It is in excellent conditioning apart from the lock which has no key, measures approximately 43" (110 cm) high x 23½" (60 cm) wide and deep. Innovation was one of the best known trade marks in America.
